Playing in the first of their final three games, Vale won the toss and decided to field. Early signs indicated it would be difficult for the batsman as the ball both swung and bounced indifferently. Brede opener Newble batted well for his 70 with Godden (27), Dinning (13), Kynwin (15) and Barrett (19) offering support. The Vale bowling attack found it difficult to take the wickets as Steve Brook (2-43), Matt Bowles (1-21) and Guy Wenham (1-26) were the only wicket takers.
In reply Vale lost wickets at regular intervals. Opener Andy Hayes top scored with 47 with other contributions coming from Pilbeam (15), Wicks (12), Wenham (12 not out) and Chris Kirkham (18). Extras played their part with a solid 23. Pick of the Brede bowlers was Barrett (4-35), Turner (3-26) with one wicket coming from Godden (1-50).
Despite their best efforts Brede couldn't force the win and Clive Vale hung in for the draw.
